RaGa’s Two-Day Gujarat Visit to Begin Cong Revamp
Rahul Gandhi to launch party pilot project in Gujarat during visit from April 15-16

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will begin a two-day visit to Gujarat on Tuesday to launch the party’s pilot project aimed at strengthening district units and appointing new district-level leadership.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on April 12 appointed 42 AICC observers and 183 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) observers to oversee the appointment of party committee presidents across 33 districts and eight major cities in the state.
Gujarat Congress President and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil stated that Gandhi will hold an orientation meeting with the appointed observers at the Congress state office in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
“Rahul Gandhi will hold a meeting tomorrow at the Congress state office in Ahmedabad. He will meet with 43 AICC observers, 7 co-observers, and observers from Gujarat Congress,” he told Benefit News.
Gohil confirmed that the observers will then begin a state-wide exercise for selecting presidents of 41 district units. Each selection process will be overseen by a five-member committee consisting of one AICC observer and four PCC observers.
These committees will visit their assigned districts, hold discussions with local leaders and party workers, and carry out the selection process. Gohil noted that the process will be completed within 45 days.
The pilot project is part of a larger organizational reform within the Congress, following recommendations made by a nine-member AICC-appointed committee to empower district presidents and improve grassroots functioning.
“A nine-member committee appointed by the AICC had recommended strengthening district units and giving more powers to its presidents. The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has given its nod to these recommendations. On my request, the party has decided to launch the pilot project for the implementation of the recommendations in Gujarat,” Gohil said.
On Wednesday, Gandhi will travel to Modasa town in Aravalli district, where he will officially launch the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Organization Building Campaign) and initiate the pilot project. Alongside the launch, Gandhi will engage in a dialogue with party workers around 10 am. “On April 16, Rahul Gandhi will address workers in Modasa town and officially kick-start the exercise,” Gohil said.
Initially, events in Modasa were scheduled for both days of the visit. However, according to party sources, the revised itinerary now includes the meeting and orientation in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, followed by the launch and worker interaction in Modasa on Wednesday.
Gandhi’s visit follows a recent AICC session and CWC meeting held in Gujarat on April 8-9. He had previously visited the state in March for discussions centred on reviving the party, which has been out of power in Gujarat for three decades.
