The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is pulling out all the stops for a grand swearing-in ceremony in Delhi on Thursday, even as the suspense over the next Chief Minister continues. While the party has remained tight-lipped about its leadership choice, it is making sure the event aligns with its &ldquo;sabka saath, sabka vikas&rdquo;&nbsp;narrative.
The guest list for the high-profile event at Ramlila Maidan reportedly includes gig workers, cab and auto-rickshaw drivers, farmers, and slum leaders, alongside women beneficiaries of the party&rsquo;s welfare schemes. The selection of invitees seems carefully curated to reinforce the BJP&rsquo;s inclusive pitch. Meanwhile, courtesy invitations have also gone out to outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav.
Despite the meticulous preparations, the BJP has yet to name its Chief Minister. The party&rsquo;s Parliamentary Board, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has appointed &ldquo;observers&rdquo;&nbsp;to oversee the crucial meeting of its 48 newly elected MLAs later in the evening. During this meeting, the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, and Speaker of the Assembly are expected to be finalized.
The swearing-in will take place between 11&nbsp;am and 12.34 pm, with the oath-taking set for 12.05 pm. Three separate stages are being erected&mdash;one for Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, and the new Chief Minister; another for religious leaders; and a third for MPs and MLAs. Over 200 BJP and allied leaders, along with industrialists, film stars, and foreign diplomats, are expected to attend.
The BJP&rsquo;s landslide victory&mdash;securing 48 of Delhi&rsquo;s 70 seats&mdash;signals a dramatic shift in the capital&rsquo;s political landscape. After dominating the city&rsquo;s politics for a decade, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a severe setback, winning only 22 seats, while the Congress remained absent from the assembly.
With the stage set and the invitations sent, all eyes are now on the BJP&rsquo;s final decision&mdash;who will lead Delhi?
