Akhilesh Vows INDIA Bloc Will Fight 2027 UP Polls
SP Chief Slams BJP as "Land Mafia," Promises Investigation into Maha Kumbh Mismanagement

Standing before journalists in Prayagraj on Sunday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav declared with conviction that the opposition INDIA coalition will remain intact for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, while launching a scathing attack on the ruling BJP.
"INDIA alliance is present and will remain," Yadav stated firmly during the press conference, addressing speculation about the future of the opposition alliance formed ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister didn't hold back in his criticism of the BJP, particularly regarding the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill. "The BJP has brought the Waqf Amendment Bill so that it can snatch away land. Wherever they see land, they occupy it," he asserted, labeling the ruling party a "land mafia party."
With characteristic defiance, Yadav predicted that the "PDA (Backward, Dalits, and Minorities) would uproot the BJP" from Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming 2027 assembly elections.
The SP chief's visit to Prayagraj coincided with his attendance at the wedding of SP state president Shyam Lal Pal's daughter, but his focus remained firmly on political matters, particularly the government's handling of the Maha Kumbh.
"When drones and CCTVs were needed the most during the stampede, they were either closed or shut down," Yadav claimed, promising a thorough investigation into alleged mismanagement if his party comes to power. He further accused the government of pressuring relatives of stampede victims to alter the reported cause of death.
During the press conference, Yadav distributed a booklet containing his suggestions for the upcoming Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025, along with a Harvard University study on the 2013 Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.
When questioned about SP MP Ramji Lal Suman's controversial statement on Rana Sanga, Yadav responded philosophically: "The history which shows each other as superior and inferior, the history which stops our progress, that history should be allowed to remain."
As political temperatures rise in India's most populous state, Yadav's statements signal intensifying opposition unity against the BJP's governance in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the crucial 2027 elections.
