Shah Rukh, Diljit & Kiara Shine at Met Gala 2025

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan made a striking first appearance at the Met Gala 2025, stepping onto the blue carpet in a custom all-black outfit designed by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi. 

Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday night, the annual fundraising gala saw Khan exuding his signature charm, blowing kisses and posing with his iconic arms-wide-open gesture. 

His ensemble featured a crystal-encrusted pendant shaped like the letter ‘K’, a nod to his moniker ‘King Khan’, and was accessorised with a stylish dandy cane. Sabyasachi, who crafted the look, also attended the high-profile event.

Making his debut at the same event, Punjabi music and film star Diljit Dosanjh wore a regal white outfit that appeared to pay tribute to the Maharaja of Patiala. 

Designed by American-Nepalese couturier Prabal Gurung — who previously styled actor Alia Bhatt for the gala — Dosanjh’s attire consisted of an ivory and gold sherwani paired with a traditional tehmat. He completed the look with a bejewelled turban featuring a white ‘kalgi’ and carried a lion-headed, jewel-encrusted kirpan. 

A flowing cape embroidered with a silhouetted map of Punjab and lettering in Gurmukhi script reflected his Sikh heritage. His team shared a series of videos of his Met Gala appearance on his official Instagram page.

Actor Kiara Advani also attended the Met Gala for the first time, wearing a specially created ensemble titled Bravehearts by designer Gaurav Gupta. Expecting her first child with husband and Shershaah co-star Sidharth Malhotra, Advani shared photos from the evening on Instagram with the caption, “Mama’s first Monday in May.” 

Her look was conceived in line with the 2025 Met Gala theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Commenting on the design, Gupta wrote on his official Instagram page, “In creating this piece for Kiara, we wanted to honour her motherhood and pay homage to the bold elegance of Black style. The look bridges continents and histories, merging a deep symbolism with the radical refinement of Black dandyism.”

The 2025 Met Gala continued its legacy as fashion’s most anticipated night, bringing together global stars and designers for a celebration of culture and couture at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
