India Slams Pakistan’s Kashmir Rhetoric at UNGA
India rebukes Pakistan at UNGA, calling out cross-border terrorism and false Kashmir claims

In yet another strong diplomatic offensive, India on Friday sharply rebuked Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for its “unjustified” and habitual reference to Jammu and Kashmir. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador P. Harish, delivered a scathing response, calling out Pakistan’s “fanatical mindset” and its “record of bigotry” while reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India.
Speaking at the General Assembly’s informal plenary meeting to commemorate the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Harish minced no words in slamming Pakistan’s rhetoric, stating:
“As is their habit, the former foreign secretary of Pakistan today has made an unjustified reference to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Frequent references by Pakistan will neither validate their claim nor justify their practice of cross-border terrorism.”
The sharp Indian retort came after Pakistan’s former foreign secretary, Tehmina Janjua, attempted to draw attention to Kashmir during her remarks. India, however, dismissed this as yet another desperate attempt by Islamabad to deflect from its own internal failures and state-sponsored terrorism.
A Pattern of False Narratives & Terror Sponsorship
This is far from the first time that Pakistan has tried to use global platforms to peddle its propaganda on Jammu and Kashmir. Time and again, India has called out Pakistan’s duplicity—portraying itself as a victim while openly harboring and financing terror groups that destabilize the region.
From the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, which saw Pakistan launch a diplomatic offensive against India, to multiple instances at the UN where Pakistan attempted to internationalize the Kashmir issue, New Delhi has consistently countered these falsehoods with facts. India has repeatedly pointed to Pakistan’s long-standing practice of sheltering UN-designated terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which have been responsible for cross-border attacks in India.
The international community, too, has taken note. Pakistan has been placed on the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list multiple times due to its inadequate actions against terror financing. Yet, despite mounting global scrutiny, Pakistan continues to evade accountability and instead attempts to shift focus by bringing up Jammu and Kashmir at every available forum.
Islamophobia vs. Religious Intolerance in Pakistan
Ironically, Pakistan used the UNGA platform—meant to combat Islamophobia—to yet again target India, ignoring its own track record of religious intolerance. While Islamabad postures as a champion of Muslim rights, religious minorities in Pakistan—Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, and even Ahmadiyya Muslims—face systemic persecution. Forced conversions, blasphemy laws, and attacks on places of worship remain rampant, raising serious concerns about Pakistan’s credibility on human rights issues.
Ambassador Harish underscored this hypocrisy, emphasizing that India is home to one of the world's largest Muslim populations, coexisting in a vibrant democracy that upholds secular values. The attempt to paint India in a negative light, he suggested, was nothing more than an extension of Pakistan’s divisive agenda.
India Stands Firm on Kashmir
Reiterating India’s unwavering position, Harish declared that Jammu and Kashmir’s status as an integral part of India is non-negotiable.
“The fanatical mindset of this nation is well known, as also its record of bigotry. Such efforts will not change the reality that Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always be an integral part of India,” he said.
With India’s growing diplomatic clout and Pakistan’s waning credibility on the global stage, New Delhi’s firm stance at the UNGA serves as yet another reminder that Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize Kashmir will find no traction. As India continues to counter falsehoods with facts, Islamabad finds itself increasingly isolated in its pursuit of outdated narratives.

India’s rebuttal at the UNGA reflects a larger geopolitical reality—one where Pakistan’s credibility continues to erode while India strengthens its position as a responsible global player. As long as Pakistan persists with its agenda of misinformation and terror sponsorship, it will face continued pushback from India and the broader international community.
For now, New Delhi remains resolute: Jammu and Kashmir is an inalienable part of India, and no amount of propaganda will change that fact.
