Explosions Rock Lahore Amid Indo-Pak Tensions
Blasts near Lahore's military zones follow Indian strikes on terror hubs in Pakistan

A loud explosion was heard near the military airport on Walton Road in Lahore on Thursday, amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
There were also reports of multiple blasts in areas near Walton Road, which leads to Lahore Cantonment. Media sources stated that Pakistani police officials confirmed the explosion, adding that they were working to determine its exact nature and location.
The blasts triggered widespread panic among residents. Eyewitnesses reported seeing plumes of smoke rising as people rushed out of their homes in fear.
Sirens were heard in the vicinity shortly after the explosion, heightening the sense of urgency.
Reports also suggested that a drone was sighted near Walton Airport.
Unconfirmed sources indicated that two loud explosions were also heard near Askari 5 in Lahore, with smoke reportedly rising from the Naval College.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan had closed several major air routes in Lahore and Sialkot to commercial flights until noon. A fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirmed the closure of these air routes until Thursday midday.
Further details are awaited.
These developments follow precision strikes by Indian armed forces under Operation Sindoor, which targeted and destroyed nine key terror hubs of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The coordinated strikes were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday and lasted just 25 minutes. Between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., 24 missiles were launched to hit nine terrorist installations, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke and major training camps in Bahawalpur — long regarded as breeding grounds for extremist activity.
“Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities were targeted. India has exercised significant restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the Indian government said in a statement.
