Farm Labourer Killed, Nine Injured in Mysterious Aircraft Crash in Punjab Village
A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday when an unidentified aircraft crashed and burst into flames in Aklian Kalan village, located in Punjab’s Bathinda district. The impact resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to at least nine others.
The deceased has been identified as Govind, a native of Charkhi Dadri in Haryana, who had been working in the area as a farm labourer. Details about the pilot remain unknown at this time.
The aircraft came down in a harvested wheat field approximately 500 metres from the nearest residential area, around 2am. The site of the crash lies about 20 kilometres from the district headquarters.
Officials have remained silent on the identity and origin of the aircraft, with the district administration stating that any formal statement will be issued by defence authorities. Security forces, including defence personnel and local police, have secured the area, while fire services were deployed to control the blaze.
Local residents recounted being awoken by the deafening noise of the crash. According to villagers, the aircraft caught fire on impact. As several people rushed to the site in an attempt to assist those on board, an explosion occurred, resulting in injuries from both flames and flying debris.
Govind was taken to the public health centre in Goniana, where he was declared dead on arrival. The injured were initially treated at the Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital, with at least one person transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda for further care.
Senior administrative and police officials remain present both at the crash site and the hospitals involved in treating the wounded.
