In a press conference held on May 12, 2025, in New Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sambit Patra commended the Indian Armed Forces for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that the operation, which targeted terror camps deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), sent a clear message about India's capability to strike at will.
"For the first time, the world witnessed that every inch of Pakistan is within India's striking capacity," Patra stated, referencing the swift 25-minute operation that dismantled key terror infrastructure.
The operation was launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Patra noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership ensured a prompt and decisive response, fulfilling his promise to address the attack with appropriate force.
Beyond military action, Patra highlighted India's diplomatic efforts to isolate Pakistan on the global stage. He revealed that Prime Minister Modi engaged with leaders from nearly 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the United States, garnering international support against terrorism.
In a significant move, India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a decision Patra described as a strategic step to exert pressure on Pakistan. "Nearly 90 percent of Pakistan's water supply depends on the Indus River. Cutting it off will cripple their agriculture and shrink their GDP by nearly a quarter," he warned.
Patra underscored that Operation Sindoor was meticulously planned to avoid civilian casualties, focusing solely on high-value terror targets. He named prominent terrorists eliminated during the operation, including Abu Jundal and Abdul Rauf, and pointed out that strikes reached Punjab province, the political heartland of Pakistan.
Displaying images of Pakistani military officials attending funerals of terrorists draped in national flags, Patra reiterated India's longstanding claim of Pakistan's state support for terrorism. He highlighted that Hafiz Abdur Rauf, a U.S.-designated terrorist, led the funeral prayers, illustrating the deep connections between Pakistan's establishment and terror groups.
Concluding his address, Patra declared, "This is Naya Bharat. We strike in their backyard." He emphasized that Operation Sindoor marks a turning point in India's fight against terrorism, showcasing a new era of strategic assertiveness.
