Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has heightened vigilance along its 480-km coastline to prevent people from restive Bangladesh from entering India. A senior police officer has given information about this. The state of Odisha is located about 200 kilometers from the coast of Bangladesh. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar said, “Bangladeshis used to enter Odisha illegally using small boats. During the unrest in Bangladesh, several criminal elements have come out of jail, according to information received from various media. Those elements may try to infiltrate India.
Marine Police Station is on 'high alert'
The Additional Director General of Police said that stopping the entry of such people into India is a priority. Kumar said, "We have put our 18 marine police stations on 'high alert'. The ADG of Coastal Security has set up a control room and the state has deployed all personnel, boats and other equipment at strategic locations." He said that Additional Director General of "Our borders should not be used for anti-India and anti-Bangladesh activities. We are keeping a close eye on social media and other media to gather additional information," the Navy said.
Extra vigilance is being maintained
The state government has directed Superintendents of Police of all coastal districts to increase patrolling, especially at night, to prevent illegal entry of outsiders. Another senior official said more attention is being paid to districts like Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Bhadrak. "Police and security agencies have stepped up surveillance on the coastal areas, while the district administration has directed revenue inspectors and forest officials to monitor the movement of people in villages near the coastal areas," said a senior official of the Kendrapara district administration. Considering the situation in Bangladesh, Odisha Additional Chief Secretary (Home) has called a meeting of all stakeholders on Thursday.
