Elon Musk to Visit India After Call with PM Modi
Elon Musk and PM Modi discuss tech partnerships as Starlink awaits clearance and trade talks continue

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has confirmed plans to visit India later this year, following a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The announcement came in response to a social media post by the Prime Minister on platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“It was an honour to speak with PM Modi,” Musk posted. “I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!”
The conversation between Musk and Prime Minister Modi revisited topics previously discussed during their in-person meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. Both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between India and the United States in the fields of technology and innovation.
“Spoke to Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year,” Modi wrote in his post on X.
“We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”
Musk and Modi last met in February during the Prime Minister’s two-day state visit to the United States. During the visit, both parties expressed optimism about cooperation in emerging sectors including electric vehicles, renewable energy, and space.
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Modi gifted Musk’s three children a collection of Indian literary works. The books included The Crescent Moon by Rabindranath Tagore, The Great RK Narayan Collection, and Panchatantra by Pandit Vishnu Sharma. Modi later shared photos of Musk’s children reading the books.
The renewed engagement between Musk and the Indian Prime Minister comes at a time when regulatory approval for Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, remains pending due to security clearance issues.
It also coincides with ongoing negotiations over a proposed bilateral trade agreement between India and the United States.
