Brief History of CRPF Established by the British in 1939 as the Crown Representative Police, the force was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force in 1949.
The CRPF played an important role in bringing princely states like Junagadh, Hyderabad, Kathiawar and Kashmir under Indian rule. They have also prevented infiltration along the borders of Rajasthan, Kutch and Sindh.
Sacrifices and Achievements The CRPF has made many important sacrifices including repelling the Chinese attack on October 21, 1959 and providing vital support to the Indian Army during the Chinese invasion of 1962. He also fought alongside the Indian Army in the 1965 and 1971 wars against Pakistan.
In the 1970s, the CRPF played a key role in ending insurgencies in Tripura and Manipur. Additionally, he bravely thwarted the terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001.
