The threat of heavy rains is still not averted in Gujarat: Red alert for rain in 27 districts

As a very heavy rain system is passing over Gujarat, it has been raining heavily for two days. On Tuesday (July 27) too, heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in 27 districts as the Meteorological Department has declared a red alert. Citizens have been advised not to step out except for essential work.
Due to continuous rains for the last two days, most of the reservoirs have overflowed. There are reports of inundation of rain water and broken roads and minor bridges in several districts. In the wake of the rain calamity, the state government has ordered closure of all educational institutions. While the exams to be held today have also been postponed.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in the state till August 31. Red alert has been announced in 11 districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, 8 in Central Gujarat, 7 in South Gujarat and 27 districts. All schools have been ordered to remain closed and people have been advised not to step out except for essential work.
Along with the rain today, the wind can also blow at a speed of 60 kmph. The state has received 251 rainfalls during the last 24 hours. 347 mm in Tankara in Morbi, 346 mm in Morwa (Hadaf) in Panchmahal, 327 mm in Nadiad in Kheda, 318 mm in Borsad in Anand, 316 mm in Vadodara, 314 mm in Anand, 312 mm in Padra in Vadodara and 308 mm in Khambhat in Anand and Godhra in Panchmahal.
Due to heavy rains, the rail service of Vadodara Railway Division between Saurashtra-Kutch and Mumbai has also been disrupted. The railway track has become waterlogged due to waterlogging at Bajwa station. Due to which many trains have been cancelled. While some trains have been partially cancelled.
Talking about Ahmedabad, 6 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours. The water level in the city's Vasna barrage has reached 128.5 feet due to incessant rains. Due to which 9 gates of the barrage have been opened. 7 out of 9 underpasses closed due to slowing down of rains have been opened while two underpasses are still closed. It has started raining in Ahmedabad since early morning. Orange alert has been given as heavy rain is predicted in Ahmedabad city. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has appealed to people not to go out unnecessarily.
It has started raining in the state capital Gandhinagar since early morning. Due to which 6 mm of rain has been recorded from 6 to 8 in the morning. Gandhinagar has received 3 inches of rain during the last 24 hours.
Talking about Rajkot and other parts of Saurashtra, Lodhika has received 4 inches of rain between 6 am and 8 am. Thangarh and Wankaner received two and a half inches of rain each. Two and a half inches of rain has fallen in two hours in Chotila, two inches in Keshod, Mendara, Kalavad. Heavy rain is falling in 170 taluks between 6 am to 8 am.
As for Vadodara, a flood-like situation has developed in Vadodara following heavy rains. 13 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours. Because of this, water has been released in the Vishwamitri river as the water income in the lake has increased.
The water level of Vishwamitri river passing through the city is increasing. Residents of Vadodara are facing flood-like situation due to rain water filling in many places. The situation in Vadodara is likely to become more serious as the Vishwamitri level rises. Vishwamitri level was recorded at 28 feet at Kalaghoda Bridge at 5:00 pm on Monday, forcing the administration to evacuate people living in low-lying areas to safer places.
Meteorological department has warned Kutch, Morbi, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar Amreli, Gir Somnath, Botad, Ahmedabad, Kheda, Mahisagar, Anand, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Chotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang. , Navsari and Valsad districts have issued a red alert for heavy rainfall.
Apart from this, orange alert has been announced for heavy rain in Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli and Gandhinagar districts.
In addition to Gujarat, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Goa and Karnataka. Heavy rain is also likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. States like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Bihar have predicted heavy rains.
