Piku Celebrates 10 Years with Theatre Comeback
Deepika Padukone announces Piku's 10th anniversary re-release on May 9, 2025, remembering Irrfan Khan

To commemorate a decade since its initial release, the critically acclaimed film Piku is set to return to cinemas on May 9, 2025. Actress Deepika Padukone shared the announcement via Instagram, expressing her enduring affection for the film.
Padukone posted a video that begins with veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan reflecting on the evolution of his character, Bhaskor Banerjee. The clip also includes selected moments from the 2015 film.
In her caption, Padukone wrote: “A film that will always have my heart - PIKU is back in theatres on 9th May, 2025 to celebrate its 10th Anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you! And think about you every so often…”
Originally released on May 8 2015, Piku is a comedy-drama directed by Shoojit Sircar. The film features performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and the late Irrfan Khan.
Supporting cast members include Moushumi Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta and Raghubir Yadav. Bachchan’s portrayal of Bhaskor Banerjee earned him his fourth National Film Award for Best Actor at the 63rd National Film Awards, marking a record-setting achievement.
The story follows Piku, a professional architect, and her elderly, often exasperating father Bhaskor. The film explores their dynamic as they embark on a road trip to Kolkata, during which their contrasting perspectives and frequent quarrels over trivial matters bring them closer together.
In terms of recent work, Padukone most recently appeared in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. The film, based on an original concept by Kshitij Patwardhan, stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role and features a cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Shweta Tiwari, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.
It is the fifth film in Shetty’s Cop Universe series.
Padukone is married to actor Ranveer Singh. The couple began their relationship in August 2012 and publicly announced their engagement in October 2018. They were married in ceremonies reflecting both Konkani Hindu and Sikh Anand Karaj traditions at Lake Como, Italy. Their daughter, Dua, was born on September 8, 2024.
