India Jams Chinese Radar, Strikes Deep in Pakistan
Operation Sindoor: IAF cripples Chinese air defence in precision strikes across PoK, Pakistan

India Outmanoeuvres Chinese Radar Shield to Strike Deep in Pakistan Under Operation Sindoor
In a bold display of electronic warfare superiority, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defence radars to carry out a series of precision air strikes between 7 and 10 May, targeting key terror and military installations deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, code-named Sindoor, marks a significant strategic milestone in India’s evolving response doctrine.
According to senior defence officials, the jamming effectively neutralised Pakistan’s Chinese-origin JY-27A and LY-80 radar-guided air defence systems, which were expected to offer layered coverage against aerial incursions. The IAF’s offensive electronic warfare platforms scrambled radar signals, blinding the Chinese systems long enough to permit Indian fighter jets and armed drones to operate with impunity.
The air defence radars in question—part of a multi-billion dollar defence procurement between Beijing and Islamabad—are touted for their counter-stealth capabilities. However, they failed to detect or intercept any Indian platform involved in the strike, exposing the limitations of Chinese systems in high-intensity conflict scenarios.
The strikes, lasting a mere 23 minutes, targeted nine high-value terror camps, identified through actionable intelligence. Executed with indigenous precision-guided munitions and real-time surveillance from long-range drones, the operation inflicted maximum damage with zero Indian casualties or asset loss—underscoring both strategic acumen and technological edge.
The strikes were greenlit hours before the Cabinet Committee on Security met under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assess the situation on the western front, following four days of escalated hostilities.
Operation Sindoor not only reaffirmed India’s aerial dominance but also sent a clear message: reliance on foreign radar technology offers no immunity against India’s calibrated and technologically advanced military operations.
