Uzbek Woman Found Dead in Lucknow Hotel Room
Police probe mysterious death of Uzbek woman in Lucknow hotel, trafficking angle not ruled out

A sense of unease gripped Hotel Atithi Inn in Vijayant Khand, Vibhutikhand, as police officials cordoned off Room 109, where a 43-year-old Uzbek woman was found dead on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Egamberdieva Zebo, had been staying at the hotel alone since March 5 after her companion, a Delhi-based man named Satnam Singh, 26, checked out, authorities said.
Police officers responded to a distress call received via emergency helpline 112, alerting them about an unconscious woman in the hotel room.
“Upon arrival, our team found the woman unresponsive on the bed. There were no immediate signs of struggle or forced entry,” said ACP Vibhutikhand, Rajesh Kumar. “She was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.”
Initial investigations revealed that Zebo had checked into the hotel on March 2 along with Singh, who left three days later. When she did not respond to calls or room service on Tuesday, hotel staff used a master key to enter and found her motionless.
“We are examining CCTV footage and phone records to determine any unusual activity before her death,” added Kumar. “The body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway to ascertain the cause of death.”
Forensic teams scoured the room for evidence, while investigators questioned hotel staff and reviewed guest logs. Police confirmed that Satnam Singh is being traced for questioning.
“Until the post-mortem report is in, we cannot confirm whether this was a natural death or if foul play was involved,” said a senior police officer at the scene.
The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of foreign nationals visiting the city, with authorities urging hotels to maintain stringent guest verification protocols.
More details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
