ISI-Linked Terror Bid Foiled in Hyderabad, 2 Nabbed
Suspects contacted ISI via social media, were radicalized, then planned blast

In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in coordination with the counterintelligence units of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police, foiled a terror plot in Hyderabad and arrested two suspects allegedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) network operating out of Saudi Arabia.
The two accused, identified as Siraj Rehman (29) from Vizianagaram and Saiyed Sameer from Bhojguda in Secunderabad, were allegedly planning a bomb blast in the city. Investigations revealed that the suspects had procured explosive materials online, including ammonia sulphur and aluminum powder, and had already conducted a trial explosion in Vizianagaram to test their materials.
Following a credible tip-off, a joint operation led to the arrest of Siraj Rehman. Based on his interrogation, police located and apprehended the second suspect, Saiyed Sameer. During searches at the suspects’ premises, explosive substances were recovered.
Authorities stated that the suspects came into contact with ISI operatives via social media. Over time, they were radicalized and, after gaining the trust of their handlers, were directed to carry out a test blast. Encouraged by the success of their trial, they then began planning a major attack in Hyderabad.
“We are still investigating the exact location and scale of the intended attack. However, the timely arrests have averted a potential disaster,” said a senior official involved in the operation.
Both suspects are currently in custody and will be produced before the court. Further investigation is ongoing.
